Administration

The Center would be administered by a director. Contractors would be used to assist in development for the school lectures and for the web sites. After creation of the sites, the cost of both services is less than $10,000 per year, exclusive of the events themselves and the general development consultant. The university cost of simple hosting of both on line functions is minuscule. If hosting is considered difficult, it could be done independently by the Center at minimal cost.

The Center director would report to the Bellevue University president. It would be helpful to have direct access to the Controller for coordination with the university on administrative matters. The director would also be responsible to the College of Arts and Sciences as professors teaching the series

The Center would be officially housed in Bellevue. Since the director would reside in Washington, a modest Center office there would be helpful but not essential. Since there are already ten off-campus locations, this would not be a radical departure for the university.

Bellevue University

The mission of Bellevue University is to provide quality liberal arts and career-oriented programs at undergraduate and graduate levels. Exceptional educational value and affordable access are provided to a diverse student body through efficient operation and moderate tuition. The University is responsive to the needs of the community through distinctive educational programs and delivery systems. Graduates of Bellevue University acquire enhanced knowledge, values, thinking abilities, and communication skills to enable them to be responsible and productive citizens.

Bellevue University is creating a new model of higher education addressing the needs of an increasingly complex and dynamic technological society undergoing rapid social and economic transformation. It will be an institution stressing the value of people and striving to create a unified culture that might serve as a model for the broader community. That model, integrating technology and continuous innovation, will provide a supportive culture which empowers our employees and our students.

Its vision is to be an institution of high quality by exceeding the expectations of all its stakeholders and accommodating the needs and lifestyles of its students. It is an institution of partnerships--partnerships with students, corporations, and educational institutions in creatively defining and fulfilling educational needs in cost effective ways, maintaining access to a diverse group of students by maintaining moderate tuition levels.

Bellevue University is an institution uniting tradition and change in order to utilize the best of our resources to help students both to earn a living and to merit a life worth living. It helps its students address questions pertinent both to their professions and to the shared values of their society in order that America might remain a free, just, and productive society.
